What does it mean to be a member or partner of Minnesota Doctors for Health Equity (MDHEQ)?

Our members are healthcare professionals and community members who advocate for health equity in all aspects of their professional, public, and private lives.

Partners are an important part of building a network of organizations that are working towards health equity within their communities. Per organizational bylaws, partners do not have voting rights within the organization.

Physician - Variable Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Physician membership is open to any individual that is currently enrolled in a graduate level (i.e. residency) physician training program, and/or is licensed as or acts as a Physician. Physician members are eligible for membership of the Board and have one vote in the affairs of MDHEQ. They are encouraged to participate in MDHEQ committees.

Health Professional Student - Variable Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Health Professional Student membership is open to students who are enrolled in a health professional training program (other than a physician training program), and who have an interest in supporting health equity in general and MDHEQ in particular. Health Professional Student members do not have a vote in the affairs of MDHEQ, except for the student member on the Board. Health Professional Student members are encouraged to engage in MDHEQ committees.

Health Professional - Variable Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Health Professional membership is open to non-physician health professionals who have an interest in supporting health equity in general and MDHEQ in particular. Health professional members do not have a vote in the affairs of MDHEQ, except for the Health Professional Member on the Board. Health professional members are encouraged to engage in MDHEQ committees.

Community - Variable Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Community membership is open to non-health professional Minnesota residents. This membership level is not available to company owners or officers. Community Members do not have a vote in the affairs of MDHEQ, except for the Community Member on the Board. Community members are encouraged to engage in MDHEQ committees.

Organizational Partner - Free Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Organizational Partners are those groups who wish to enter into a formal partnership with MDHEQ and for official use of MDHEQ logos. This includes professional medical organizations, community organizations, and other groups. To qualify for this partnership, organizations must share a combination of a selection of the following AND renew annually. Renewals must include noted updates and progress to previously submitted materials.

Potential materials to submit with the renewal include:

Organizational equity policy
Diversity of leadership within the organization and/or their commitment to recruiting/hiring diverse candidates
Donor and sponsor characteristics
Summary of alignment in work with organizational equity framework and/or policy priorities
Statements on health equity, mission, and vision
Strategic plans

Health Professionals will use their voice, knowledge, and influence to eliminate the inequities that exist in health and healthcare, while working effectively with their patients, health systems, communities, and decision makers to address health equity wherever they live, work, learn, and play.
